February 11 to 14 2024 mark the dates for EBU’s next General Assembly. It will be held in Lisbon and be hosted by ACAPO, our Portuguese member, who deserve our appreciation and gratitude for taking up this challenge. Moreover, EBU will celebrate its 40th Anniversary. There will be some participants who even were present at the founding assembly in Hurdal, Norway, in 1984!
As in all General Assemblies, the existing board will go out and a new board will be elected and come in. This time, we expect significant changes in its composition. So, our member organisations will have to take important decisions prior to the assembly. Our nomination committee has started to take in the proposals for candidatures, and we encourage all member organisations to play a proactive role in this process. Let's all be aware: It is about the future of EBU we need to decide on!
The celebration of the 40-years-aniversary of EBU will include a recap of what has been planned and what has been achieved; However, it also will introduce ideas and proposals for the future. I'm confident that this General Assembly will be the opportunity to make decisions that will give valuable input and guidance to the creative and effective work of EBU in the years ahead.
To participate in this General Assembly will offer you the chance to be among those who will have laid down the path for the next era of our organisation as the voice of blind and partially sighted people in Europe. So register now and come to Lisbon!
