The 43rd annual Mayfest was held in Dublin on May 25th and 26th. The event is Vision Sports Ireland’s festival of sport and physical activity weekend, the event proved a resounding success with over 371 attendees throughout the two days. All activities were aimed at providing sports and physical activities for people who are blind or vision impaired with their families and friends.
For the third consecutive year, University College Dublin (UCD) was the venue for Saturday’s schedule. Activities were held across the UCD sports campus including their indoor halls, hockey pitch, astroturf pitches, swimming pool and athletics track. Throughout the day there was a wide range of sports and activities including karate, rowing, cycling, golf, rock climbing, target shooting, weightlifting, football, rugby, athletics, tennis, activity classes and much, much more.
A highlight of the weekend was our family-friendly social event on Saturday evening where old and new friends have an opportunity to connect.
Sunday’s activities included a golf session at Stackstown Golf Club, followed by a family-friendly event at the National Science and Sports Centre. This offered participants the opportunity to experience sports, science, technology and adventure all under one roof with the highlight for many being the lightning show experience.
