The foundations for an even more inclusive future: the European Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024
This year has marked the half-way point of the EU Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030. Since the start of its implementation, many progress has been done through its several flagship initiatives. In this sense, new actions should be taken during the next six years to consolidate the milestones achieved so far. This message was conveyed by the participants of the European Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024.

Braille 200 - Blind people celebrate the birthday of braille throughout 2025
In 1825 at the age of 16 Louis Braille invented in the institute for the blind in Paris the braille script and started using it with his schoolmates. Since then, this ingenious script has been the basis of communication, education, professional success, social participation and personal happiness for many generations of blind people. Blind people and their associations around the world are celebrating this in a very special way in 2025. The European Blind Union (EBU) and the German Federation of the Blind and Partially Sighted (DBSV) collect contributions about braille. We invite individuals, groups or organisations to create artistic, personal or documentary contributions such as videos, podcasts, texts, photos or graphics about braille.

Gerbera Ediciones of Argentina and the Round Table on Information Access for People with Print Disabilities, representing Australia and New Zealand, have been named the winners of the 2024 ABC International Excellence Awards in the publisher and initiative categories, respectively.
